Almost 2,000 people from more than 100 Green parties around the globe gathered in Liverpool from 30 March to 2 April for the joint Congress of the European Green Party and the Global Greens – #Greens2017.
This was indeed the largest gathering in the history of Green parties, that began 45 years ago in Tasmania.
The debates in the plenaries and the topics of the workshops and parallel sessions were very diverse, ranging from trade to agricultural policy, foreign affairs and armed conflicts in Syria and Eastern Ukraine. It was also the occasion to discuss issues like the Green response to the rise of populists and nationalists in Europe and beyond.
The exciting, sometimes controversial but above all motivating debates have shown us one thing: Green parties are growing faster and faster. We will fight together on all continents for our common future on this planet, for more social justice and for an open society without nationalism and walls.
If you haven’t been able to join us but still you would be interested in watching our plenary sessions and reading our resolutions or the ‘Liverpool declaration’, please visit the event website: greens2017.org
